SEMC Winter EM course – EM crystallography part I

On March 26th, Iban Ubarretxena kicked-off our EM crystallography section of the course by discussing 2D crystallography and how cryoEM routinely reached near atomic resolutions decades before the recent developments in direct detectors.

Iban is a professor at MSSM. As part of his research he uses cryo-electron microscopy to investigate membrane proteins and the molecular etiology of neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimers and Parkinson’s Disease.
